Central Lakes College releases honor lists BRAINERD—Central Lakes College, Brainerd and Staples, recently announced its 2017 fall semester honors list, which included students from Bemidji and Tenstrike. Named to the list were Allison Morberg, President's List, Bemidji; Carlie Schroeder, Dean's List, Bemidji; Dylan Parsons, Dean's List, Tenstrike; and Hailey Semon, Dean's List, Tenstrike.
WALKER -- The annual Wildfire on Ice hockey tournament will be held Jan. 12-13, at the Walker Area Community Center, 105 Tower Ave. The event is free and open to the public and features a hockey tournament, banquet and silent auction, free pizza for children and an opportunity for them to ice skate with Smokey Bear. The tournament is an interagency effort among wildland firefighters to raise proceeds for the Wildland Firefighter Foundation.
Full Gospel Businessmen's Fellowship America to meet BEMIDJI—The Bemidji Area Full Gospel Businessmen's Fellowship America will meet at 8 a.m., on Saturday, Jan. 6, at the Beltrami Electric Community Room, 4111 Technology Drive NW. Coffee, fruit, and rolls will be served. The event is open to the public.
Itasca Community College student receives scholarship
BSU to host trick or treating for area youth BEMIDJI—BSU will open its doors to area children for an evening of Halloween trick-or-treating on Tuesday, Oct. 31.
BEMIDJI—Sanford Health Foundation of Northern Minnesota has teamed up with Bemidji Hairstyling Center, Classic Cuts and The Hair Affair to support breast cancer awareness month. During October, people are encouraged to show their support in the fight against breast cancer with a streak of pink hair. Clip-in or temporary pink hair streaks will be offered for $25. All proceeds benefit the Sanford Health Foundation's Edith Sanford Breast Center in Bemidji to help support women who cannot afford mammograms.
City hosts 'Boo Dash' 5K fun run and walk BEMIDJI—The Bemidji Parks and Recreation Department will host a Boo Dash 5K fun run/walk on Saturday, Oct. 28, at the City Park Montebello Ski Trail. Registration will begin at 9 a.m., and the race will start at 10 a.m. All pre-registered participants will receive a T-shirt. Costumes are encouraged, according to a press release. For more information or to register, visit www.ci.bemidji.mn.us . For questions, call (218) 333-1850. The cost is $15 for those who pre-register or $20 on the day of the race.
Local towns receive grants for historical projects ST. PAUL—The Minnesota Historical Society recently announced 36 recipients of 37 Minnesota historical and cultural Heritage small grants, which are up to $10,000 each and total $280,924 in 20 counties.
First Friday Art Walk for Oct. 6 Here's a look at the next installment, Oct. 6, of Bemidji's First Friday Art Walk series: Dunn Bros Coffee will feature a vintage clothing collection during the First Friday Art Walk. The collection is by SKY Vintage & Handmade, an online shop curated and owned by Sheri Ramirez. Pieces will be available for purchase. Dunn Bros is located at 501 Paul Bunyan Drive SE.
